Admission
All children who are five years of age and under 21 years of age on or before the first day of September and are residents of Commerce ISD may attend Commerce Schools. Commerce ISD has boundaries which include some areas of Campbell, Wolfe City, Ladonia and Greenville. Students residing outside the district boundaries must have prior approval for admission through the superintendent’s office.
At this time, a transfer fee is not charged; however, parents should request to transfer their child before May 1 for the following school year. Requests for any current school year will only be considered after the 10th day of instruction and then only through the end of the first six weeks. Apply for transfer at the Administration Building at 604 Culver St.

A child must be five years of age on or before September 1 to enroll in kindergarten or six years of age on the first day of school to enter first grade.

Entrance Requirements

To enroll in Commerce’s prekindergarten programs,
  • a child must be four years old,
  • unable to speak or comprehend the English language,
  • educationally disadvantaged or homeless.

    A birth certificate or its equivalent is required for children entering prekindergarten, kindergarten or first grade. The most recent report card or grade transcript for those entering grades 2 through 12.
     
    Other records required for all students include:

    • Immunization records
    • Proof of residence including a contract or a lease agreement and a recent utility bill
    • Social Security numbers are requested

    Registration is handled at the school the child will be attending. A parent or guardian must accompany a child when registering.
