Transportation

Commerce ISD offers the privilege of safe, reliable and professional transportation to all eligible students in the District. Although the State of Texas only requires the District to provide transportation to students living beyond two miles from their school, the CISD Board of Trustees has chosen to provide transportation to all students in the district as a courtesy.

Bus routes
CISD provides transportation for every student in the district. Check route listing below.
  • The school bus is considered an extension of the classroom. Therefore, from the time students arrive at the bus stop, until the time they are dropped off at the bus stop, students are under the authority of the school administrators. Safety at the bus stop and on the bus is of utmost importance. The drivers and monitors have the responsibility of ensuring safe and proper behavior on the bus.

    • Riders should be at the designated bus stop 10 minutes prior to the scheduled bus stop time. If the student is not at the stop, the driver is not obligated to honk, wait, etc.

    • If a student misses the bus, the parent is responsible for getting their child to school.

    • All changes in drop-offs and pick-ups should be directed to the student’s campus and to the transportation office before 2 p.m. that day.

    • Students can only get off the bus at their designated stop unless a written, signed and dated authorization has been provided to the school secretary and verified.

    • Grades PK, K, 1, 2, 3 – a parent, adult, or older sibling must be present and visible by the driver before a student is dropped off.

    • When a student misbehaves on the bus, the monitor or driver will speak to the student if the infraction is minor. If the behavior continues, the monitor or driver will complete a Bus Discipline Referral, and submit it to the campus administrator. The penalty for misbehavior on the bus is at the discretion of Principal or Assistant Principal depending on circumstances, but it may include removal from bus. Serious misbehavior on the bus may also be cause for punishment up to and including suspension or expulsion from school, per the Student Handbook.

    • Early dismissals are three hours early.

    • School cancellation or delayed start will be announced by 6 a.m. Messages will be sent out through School Messenger and also through social media and the website at www.commerceisd.org.
