Board election set for May 6 at City Hall

The deadline for filing has passed for Places 4 and 5 on the Commerce ISD Board of Trustees. Filing for Place 4 are incumbent Dr. Mark Reid and Eddie Vowell. Dr. LaVelle Hendricks was unopposed in Place 5 and will be declared the winner. 

Reid was appointed to the Board last June to fill the unexpired term of Ted Oats.  He is the associate dean of the College of Education and Human Services at Texas A&M University-Commerce. Vowell retired as the head football coach at A&M-Commerce and has over 40 years of coaching public school, college and professional football. 

A joint election will be held with the City of Commerce on May 6 at City Hall. Early voting will be conducted each weekday beginning April 24, 2017 and ending on May 2, 2017 at Commerce City Hall, 1119 Alamo Street, between the hours of 8:15 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. with extended hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 25 and 27, 2017.
