Transfers for students living outside the district will be considered at any time. However, because we believe it is a privilege to attend school in Commerce the following are considerations for students wanting to transfer into Commerce ISD.
Requirements for attendance, academic achievement and conduct are as follows:
- A transfer student’s absences will not be allowed to exceed 10 percent of the total days in a semester.
- Satisfactory academic progress is defined as maintaining a 70 percent for each report card grading period and passing scores in all sections of the student’s state assessment, such as the TAKS/STAAR test.
- Placement in the district’s Discipline Alternative Education Program (DAEP), expulsion, assignment to in-school suspension more than two times/days or assignment to out-of-school suspension more than two times/days are defined as serious or persistent misbehavior and will cause a transfer applicant to not be accepted and also revoke the transfer of a current student.
To apply for transfer into Commerce ISD, parents should obtain a transfer application at the CISD Administration Building at 3315 Washington St., Monday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Forms are also available online.
